Dear Classmates,
I'm wishing you a wonderful weekend filled with good
conversation, lots of laughter, blue skies, and lovely breezes. I'll be
thinking about you, as I often do, and I'll sending my best thoughts
your way.
"Your way" will be north of here, as we've recently moved
south to Florida to be near my son and his family. I retired as a
medical librarian, which I found rewarding and challenging. When my
husband, Bob, retired, we decided to move from Pittsburgh to be near
one of our children.
My new retired life at "almost" 60 (3 weeks?) is
happy. I'm engrossed with three little grandchildren ( just 7
miles away, and ages 5 and under), volunteer work at the local art museum,
volunteer work at the public library (teaching health information
retrieval classes), and being a lay eucharistic minister at church. I'm
loving being older for its greater wisdom, freedom, and its
perspective. I could do very nicely without some of the physical
changes, but that's an "oh well"... (the perspective
thing).
I'm particularly grateful for my time at Nazareth with all of you. It was,
and continues to be, a special place for me. As I've attended reunions
over the years, I've always been impressed with our graduates and how
committed they are to achievement in their various roles, not for
its own sake, but because the achievement would be a contribution
to life. I'm proud of our old Nazareth, and I'm also proud of
who she's becoming.
Please call me if you're in the Palm Beach area of Florida. My phone
number is 561-656-0888, and I would love to get together. And we have lots
of room for visitors.
Love and best wishes,
Joan
