Obituaries
TEWKSBURY: Maureen (Clancy) Bernard, age 66, a
resident of Tewksbury for the past 23 years, passed away on Wednesday,
September 1, 2010 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill,
with her family by her side.
She was the wife of Joseph O. Bernard, with whom she
celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary on July 8, 2010.
Born in Pensacola, FL on August 15, 1944, she was the
daughter of the late Francis J. Clancy and the late Jean (Murphy)
Clancy Knapp. Mrs. Bernard was raised in Caledonia, New York.
She attended local schools and graduated in 1962 from Notre Dame High
School of Batavia, NY. Following graduation, she attended Nazareth
College in Rochester, NY, where she received her B.A. Degree in 1966.
She was an active communicant at St. Williams Church
of Tewksbury, where she served as a Eucharistic
Minister. Mrs. Bernard was a devoted wife,
mother and grandmother who treasured the time she was able to spend
with her family. She enjoyed numerous activities including;
needlepoint, gardening, knitting and reading.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by four
children, Elizabeth J. Woods and her husband Thomas of Ebensburg, PA,
Christine M. Strelow and her husband Matthias of Mason, NH, Michael J.
Bernard and his wife Paula of Nashua, NH and Karen M. Bernard of Boston;
seven beloved granddaughters; one sister, Kathleen Vetter and her
husband Timothy of Alden, NY; three brothers, Timothy Clancy and his
wife Cathleen of Clifton, NY, Kevin Clancy and his wife Jodi of
Lakeland, FL and Emmett Clancy and his wife Antoinette of Newport Coast,
CA; also many nieces and nephews.

Lippa, Patricia Ann "Patty"
Irondequoit: December 6, 2008, at age 64. Now at peace with the Lord, she
was surrounded by her family at home, after a brave battle with cancer.
Patricia is survived by her dearest companion, Tom Tosti; brother, John Lippa,
along with Stan Kreher; and brother, Louis Lippa; sisters, Ursula Allen and Mary
(Richard) Schauseil; longtime family friend, Dick Loiacono; devoted friend,
Louis Paolino; nieces, Christine (Julio) Zambrano and Yvonne (Stephen) Schmergel;
nephews, Richard and Thomas Schauseil; many other relatives; countless
cherished, close friends here and overseas in the teaching, church and medical
communities she served with such devotion.
She is predeceased by her parents, to whom she was utterly devoted, Dominic and
Lucy Bianchi Lippa; also predeceased by her loving aunts, Aunt Pat Bianchi
Pocchiari & Aunt Eva Lippa Barricelli. Patricia was a resident of Charlotte
for 30 years. When her house burned down three years ago, she moved to a new
home on Irondequoit Bay.
She was an elementary school teacher for 33 years- 27 years at #30 School on
Otis Street, near the home on Lyell Avenue where she grew up. Devoutly
religious, Patricia was a lifelong parishioner of Holy Apostles Church and close
to the St. Cecilia community. For the past 9 years, she was a selfless caregiver
to her sister, Ursula.
Born the youngest, Patricia (or "Patty Ann") loved to travel and learn
new things. She urged others to be open to "all of life's
possibilities" and not waste a moment. She was an accomplished ballroom
dancer and liked to cross country ski. She went to Italy on her own to teach
English, and traveled frequently to Italy all her life. She frequently visited
her family's ancestral village, VillaValleLonga, at the foot of the Abruzzi
Mountains, and to shrines and countries the world over.
She graduated from Nazareth High School, received her Bachelor's at Nazareth
College, and earned her Master's Degree at Brockport Teacher's College.
Friends may call SUNDAY 2:00-6:00 PM and MONDAY 2:00-4:00 &
7:00-9:00 at the DiPonzio Funeral Home, Inc., 219 Spencerport Rd., Gates. On
Tuesday, December 9, friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM
in Holy Apostles Church (Lyell Ave.). Interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In
lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Apostles Church, 7 Austin St.,
Roch., NY 14606, in her memory. Please bring any photos or stories for her
memory book.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to all her wonderful
caregivers.
